Canara, Interra, Prime Focus, RGB, WASP3D, Corpus Media, YuppTV tap South-East Asia market in Singapore

India’s industry stalwarts representing various segments of the broadcast value chain from production to workflow and content delivery participated at BroadcastAsia2017 taking place from 23 - 25 May 2017 in Singapore. They include veteran exhibitors Canara Lighting Industries, Interra Systems, Planetcast Media Services, Prime Focus Technologies, RGB Broadcasting Equipment, Wasp3d, and first-time exhibitors Corpus Media Labs, YUPPTV.

Bringing together global leaders as well as emergent players from the region, the upcoming BroadcastAsia2017 is the largest industry event for Asia’s broadcast, film and digital media entertainment industry. As OTT becomes mainstream across Asia, broadcasters begin to transition to IP (Internet protocol) based systems and storytelling in virtual reality gains traction, the event will see broadcasters, content providers and technology experts gather to share strategies and exchange views that will further shape the broadcasting industry.

This bodes well for first-time exhibitor YuppTV, one of the world’s largest OTT solutions providers. On their inaugural showcase at BroadcastAsia2017, Uday Reddy, Founder and CEO of YUPPTV says, “BroadcastAsia is one of the most reputed events in the digital multimedia and entertainment industry. It is a great platform to exchange knowledge on Broadcast and OTT trends. Veteran exhibitor Interra Systems will be presenting their suite of software-based content verification, monitoring, and analysis solutions for file-based and real-time workflows in the digital media industry. Commenting on their showcase at BroadcastAsia2017, Sunil Jain, CEO, Interra Systems says, “The global video streaming market is set to grow from US$30.29 billion in 2016 to US$70.05 billion by 2021. As broadcasters and other service providers embrace OTT workflows, they need proven audio and video analysis technologies that will ensure the delivery of technically sound content,”

On India’s participation at the BroadcastAsia, Calvin Koh, Assistant Project Director (Communications Events) at organisers UBM SES, says, “India has had a steady presence at the event over the last few years. India has a very mature media landscape and as its companies continue to expand regionally and internationally, BroadcastAsia serves as an ideal platform to showcase their latest innovations to the blossoming OTT market in Southeast Asia.”

1700 exhibitors from 58 countries and 38 international pavilions presented an ecosystem of the latest technologies and innovations companies and governments need to keep up with in this digital era. CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia 2017 spanned 65,000 sqm across Marina Bay Sands and Suntec Singapore, and received approximately 48,000 attendees.

BroadcastAsia Show Highlights

BroadcastAsia2017 presented the latest end-to-end solutions and game-changing products for next-generation broadcasting needed to stay ahead of the curve.

In the next four years, the AR (Augmented Reality) and VR market is forecast to grow to US$80 billion, and in keeping broadcasters and content creators in the region up-to-date with emerging technology in this space, 2017 will see the launch of the first-ever Virtual Reality Zone at BroadcastAsia.

The TV Everywhere! Zone is also back for a third showing with an even bigger exhibition of non-linear broadcasting solutions. The Cinematography/Film/Production Technology Zone and ProfessionalAudioTechnology, will continue to deliver the latest equipment and tools for content creators.

Beyond the exhibition, the BroadcastAsia2017 International Conference gathers top broadcast experts and industry influencers from Asia and beyond to discuss evolving industry trends, debate the best business and commercial strategies, and showcase breakthrough technologies. Key topics included OTT 2.0, VR as the next game changer, optimising maximising experience on all screens, IP in broadcasting, UHD vs 1080p, and monetising data analytics among many others.
