Hottest Microphones

Microphones form an integral part of production process, hence they fall under top priority while setting up any broadcast studio, be it for entertainment or news. In this article, Broadcast Video Producer magazine has tried to enlist hottest newsroom mics.

Sennheiser MD 42

The MD 42 is a high-quality reporter’s microphone with omni-directional pick-up pattern. It has been specially optimised for rough use in live reporting and broadcasting environments. The MD 42 is a very ‘good-natured’ microphone whose design avoids wind and handling noise problems. Colour: black, sound inlet basket: refined steel, black.

• Two-ply sound inlet basket provides increased protection from wind and pop noise
• Rugged metal housing
• Rubber mounted capsule (or Elastically mounted capsule) ensures low sensitivity to handling noise
• Omni-directional pick-up pattern ensures excellent speech intelligibility without having to point the microphone directly at your interview partner

Sennheiser SKM 9000

The SKM 9000 is compatible to evolution wireless and 2000 series microphone heads as well as two Neumann heads, KK 204 and KK 205. Three new heads, ME 9002, ME 9004 and ME 9005, feature a very low handling noise with a low pop sensitivity combined with the transparency of permanently polarized condenser microphones. The dynamic head, MD 9235, is the specialist for loud live sound stages. The digital audio transmission of the SKM 9000 offers arrestingly great dynamics. It’s also the ideal solution when wired microphones are used simultaneously: The artefactfree, uncompressed digital audio transmission is a perfect match to cable sound. Exchangeable energy packs with environment-friendly Lithium Ion technology supply the required energy while saving thousands of batteries over time.

Features include: • Broad choice of sounds and applications
• The optimum in practical operation and sound quality
• 4 exclusive 9000 series microphone heads with lowest possible handling noise and pop sensitivity
• Compatible with the evolution wireless / 2000 series micro phone heads as well as Neumann capsules
